AmeriCorps Member and Site Monitoring and Reporting Requirements (August 23, 2018)

During this presentation, CNCS staff and program and commission speakers reviewed basic AmeriCorps member and service site monitoring and reporting requirements and provided recommendations for building strong systems. This session was designed to be most useful for new program and commission staff and/or those who are directly involved with designing, implementing, or improving member and site monitoring and reporting activities. Best practices were shared from City Year and PennSERVE.

AmeriCorps Member Orientation and Training (August 9, 2018)

This session focused on orienting and training AmeriCorps members in a variety of program settings. This webinar was designed for all commission and program staff who are responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating AmeriCorps member orientation and training programs. Guest speakers included representatives from Citizens Schools and GRID Alternatives.

Financial Grants Management - Building a Strong Foundation (July 26, 2018)

Receiving an AmeriCorps grant award can be both thrilling and terrifying. Whether you are a first time grantee or a grantee with decades of experience, managing federal grant funds in an allowable, responsible, and compliant manner can be a challenge. In this presentation, the CNCS Office of Grants Management discussed techniques for building a framework that supports strong systems, best practices to preserve your foundation, and some of the most common challenges that can crumble that foundation.

NSCHC - Advanced Topics (July 12, 2018)

This webinar focused on conducting thorough and compliant criminal history checks for AmeriCorps program participants. The agenda addressed a variety of advanced topics, including the CNCS Enforcement Guide, Mitigation Matrix, and Fieldprint.

New Program Staff Orientation (June 14, 2018)

This webinar focused on orienting new program staff to AmeriCorps and CNCS. The presentation focused on CNCS resources available and expectations for program staff and provided recommendations for phases of orientation and training for new AmeriCorps program employees.

This webinar focused on orienting new commission staff to AmeriCorps and CNCS. The presentation focused on CNCS resources available and expectations for commission staff and provided recommendations for phases of orientation and training for new employees. Participants included staff of all State Service Commissions.

How to Review Data Collection Plans (April 26, 2018)

This webinar was presented by staff of the AmeriCorps State and National unit at CNCS. Participants included staff of all State Service Commissions. The target audiences for this webinar were commission staff who are directly involved in reviewing commission and/or subgrantee data collection plans, providing technical assistance on those plans, and supporting strong data management. This will allow participants to use the training material to assess existing data collection plans, including plans submitted by new AmeriCorps subgrantees in response to the 2018 AmeriCorps State and National Notice of Funding Opportunity, and identify strengths and opportunities for improvement.

Continuity Planning (March 29, 2018)

This webinar was presented by staff of the AmeriCorps State and National unit at CNCS. Participants included staff of state commissions, national/multi-state programs, and tribal programs. Presenters discussed 10 elements in strong continuity planning for commissions and programs and worked through a series of simple exercises to illustrate strengths and challenges. Marie Humenik, Program Officer at the New Jersey Commission on National and Community Service, also presented her commission's approach to supporting subgrantees' continuity and staff sustainability. 

 

AmeriCorps Member Supervision and Evaluation (December 14, 2017)

This webinar was presented by staff of the AmeriCorps State and National unit at CNCS. The webinar audience was comprised of staff of state commissions and new AmeriCorps programs in 2017-2018. The agenda included: an overview of the member management plan, CNCS requirements for member supervision and evaluation, examples of member evaluation forms, and member supervision scenarios.

AmeriCorps Member Recruitment (November 30, 2017)

The agenda included description of the five critical activities for your first three-year AmeriCorps grant cycle, how these activities lay the foundation for future evaluation work, and how to plan ahead to ensure that your program achieves key first-cycle milestones.
