Tuesday Talk

Aging Well Across the Lifespan

Tuesday, May 28, 2019, 3:30-4:30 PM ET

How can we best support the well-being of our volunteers, our community members and ourselves? Aging well is not merely the absence of disease, it encompasses multiple dimensions including: physical, intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, vocational, financial, and environmental. These dimensions contribute to a person’s quality and length of life. Daily actions that include: what we eat, how much we move, what our stress levels are – all impact our health and wellbeing. In this webinar, Heather Haslem the Wellness Director of the Sanford Center for Aging at the University of Nevada, an RSVP sponsor, will outline nine key components of wellbeing, along with how to address potential barriers that people face and how you can integrate them into your work with Senior Corps.

Tools, Training and Free Technical Assistance for Effective Practice In Mentoring from the National Mentoring Resource Center

Tuesday, June 11, 2019, 3:30-4:30 PM ET

In this webinar, Melissa English from the National Mentoring Resource Center (NMRC), a program developed and funded through the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, will introduce us to the NMRC’s suite of research-informed and practitioner-approved resources for mentoring programs all across the country, including free public tools and tops. We’ll also learn how to request no-cost, personalized technical assistance from the NMRC to help you solve local challenges and here from a Senior Corps program that has benefitted from their support. This session builds on a successful session offered at the 2018 National Senior Corps Convening and can help you prepare for our upcoming event on Education and Intergenerational Programming in Denver, where MENTOR will present as well. Can’t attend the event? This is a great opportunity to learn from one of the nation’s leading subject matter experts on effective practices in mentoring.

Connecting to Senior Corps Webinars

Senior Corps uses Adobe Connect to host its webinars. Adobe Connect allows users with limited and ample bandwidth alike to connect quickly and easily and have a high-quality experience. No download is necessary - it opens directly in your browser and will give you instructions to connect to audio.

To join a webinar, register for the session using one of the links above. You will receive a confirmation email with a calendar invitation and a link to join the webinar. When you join, the system will walk you through how you can connect your audio. We strongly recommend choosing to have the system call you by selecting "Dial out" and entering your phone number. This method generally leads to the highest audio quality.
