The Southern Region supports service projects in 17 states, the District of Columbia and several territories: Alabama, Connecticut, Washington DC, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Jersey, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, The US Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.

You will be assigned a dorm that will serve as your "home base" during your term of service with the Southern Region campus. The dormitories are co-ed with two to four people living in each room, with each room divided by gender. Roommate assignments are made shortly before your arrival on campus, so you can meet your roommate(s) when you get here. A typical room has bunk beds, closet space, drawers and desks.  There are lounges with cable television and outdoor patios for relaxing.

Our teams work with a diverse array of nonprofits, local and federal government agencies, faith-based organizations, and more across the U.S. See what they have to say about the members they’ve encountered.

  • "AmeriCorps NCCC has been an essential partner to Habitat for Humanity of Craven County. This partnership has been crucial to help return Hurricane Florence survivors to safe and healthy housing... Each team is ready to learn, easy to train and coach, and is comprised of hard workers who take pride in the work they do. They have been an exceptional addition to the Habitat for Humanity of Craven County family..."

    -Antoinette Boskey, Neighborhood Revitalization Director
Craven County Habitat for Humanity | North Carolina

  • "The AmeriCorps NCCC teams that worked at Mammoth Cave National Park have helped to move several of the park's major trail projects forward which will benefit both the health of park resources and the many visitors who travel to the park annually. The dedication and professionalism they brought to their work helped us to complete these projects in a way we would not have been able to otherwise. The crew's Team Leader was well organized and provided guidance to the team throughout their work that kept them excited and motivated."

-Liz Thomas, Acting Volunteer & Youth Program Manager
Mammoth Cave National Park | Kentucky

  • "[Our team] proved to be a strong team unit, working very well together and conquering every task given to them. Their contribution towards agency efforts was highly noticed and missed once they were gone. We would highly recommend AmeriCorps NCCC to any non-profit looking to build capacity.  They are truly a remarkable group of young adults."

    -Lauren Copeland, Senior Coordinator
    Brighton Center, Newport, KY

  • "Hosting an AmeriCorps NCCC Team has had such an impact on our Habitat Affiliate. Not only do their contributions build our speed that expedite getting a family into a home, but they also become an extension of our staff. Their hard work and positive attitude allow us to tackle more projects and serve our community more effectively."

    -Hope Broecker, Volunteer Engagement Specialist
Habitat For Humanity of Madison and Clark Counties | Kentucky

  • "The NCCC team and team leader were outstanding in their ability to perform the tasks as outlined; to become part of our community; and to meet the goals set at the beginning of the project.  Without their assistance, our project, repairing and rehabilitating a historic brick street, would still be unaccomplished.  Our organization would recommend wholeheartedly that small rural communities apply for a NCCC team to help move their projects and communities forward.  Our organization was extremely pleased with the hard work, friendliness, attitudes and professionalism the NCCC team assigned to us exhibited."
