Washington D.C. – Additional AmeriCorps members have deployed to provide disaster relief in the areas of five states that saw significant destruction during the recent storms.An AmeriCorps NCCC team of 12 members began work in West Liberty, KY, after traveling to the area from the campus in Vicksburg, MS over the weekend. Three AmeriCorps VISTAs have opened a Volunteer Reception Center (VRC) in the same city and seven additional VISTAs are supporting a state-run call center in Frankfort, KY on a rotating basis.

Washington D.C. – AmeriCorps members from the AmeriCorps St. Louis Emergency Response Team have already been deployed to several sites in Missouri in response to the storms that tore through the Midwest yesterday, and more deployments expected in the coming days.

National Service Agency Requests Applications for September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance GrantsWashington, DC – The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) released a Notice for Federal Funding Availability (NOFA) today for the 2012 grant competition for the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance grants. The deadline for applications will be 5:00 p.m. EST on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. Successful applicants will be notified by the end of June, 2012.
