Town seeks to eliminate all greenhouse emissions by 2050

At a time when scientists are predicting significant repercussions if global warming continues unabated, York’s Energy Steering Committee is responding with an “ambitious but achievable” goal of reducing the town’s greenhouse gas emissions by 100 percent by 2050, and 50 percent by 2030. “That’s not set in stone at this point, but we need to set the mark to start the effort,” said Lucy Brennan, the committee’s Americorps/VISTA volunteer.
