According to the Youth Helping America study from the Corporation for National and Community Service, youth from a family where at least one parent volunteers is almost twice as likely to volunteer – and nearly three times as likely to volunteer on a regular basis! Volunteering teaches even toddlers and preschoolers about compassion, empathy, tolerance, gratitude, and community responsibility. Teens say that through volunteering they learn to respect others, learn to understand people who are different, develop leadership skills, become more patient, and gain a better understanding of citizenship.
