As hurricanes leave communities in the South ravaged, nearly a hundred volunteers from Eastern Iowa are headed down to help hurricane victims. 91 AmeriCorps volunteers stationed in Cedar Rapids are deploying to help this week, some as early as tomorrow. The young group of volunteers don't know exactly where they'll be headed, but they're eager to help. "We're ready for whatever comes and whatever they need us to do," said AmeriCorps volunteer Mike McCaslin. Volunteers met one last time in Cedar Rapids on Monday afternoon, signing paperwork and asking any last minute questions. In a few short hours, volunteers will be deployed out to Georgia, Florida, or Texas. They've all received Red Cross training.
