A group of teenagers from across the country will have packed schedules when they visit Potter County for two weeks later this month. They won’t be filling their time with sightseeing or hiking the mountainside, though. Instead, the young people  –– from the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps –– plan to spruce up the Austin and Ulysses areas, from June 10-24. Plans call for the team to create gateway signage, clean and revitalize a senior center in Ulysses and repair a trail and improve access to the Austin Dam Memorial Park near Austin. “The nine-member team was requested by the Potter County Commissioners to provide assistance with the design and construction of projects in two of the boroughs as part their downtown development goals. This is the first time the organization has hosted an AmeriCorps NCCC team,” said Samantha Jo Warfield, press secretary for the Corporation for National and Community Service.
