Focus Areas

The Corporation for National and Communtiy Service is committed to improving lives across the country, that means meeting community-identified needs and being there when it matters the most.

Economic and Workforce Development

The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) contributes to economic and workforce development through its AmeriCorps and Senior Corps programs that focus on economic well-being and the security of economically disadvantaged people.

For more than 50 years, national service has proven to be a catalyst when combined with community-based economic opportunity resources. Members provide services and resources to increase financial literacy, assist new and existing affordable housing efforts, and foster improved employability for long-term economic solutions.

Energy and Conservation

We administer energy and conservation programs that focus on responsible stewardship of the environment and prepare communities for challenging circumstances. These AmeriCorps and Senior Corps projects aim to:

  • conserve natural habitats,
  • protect clean air and water,
  • maintain public lands,
  • support wildland fire mitigation,
  • cultivate individual and community sufficiency,
  • provide reforestation services after floods and fires.
  • and more.

Faith-Based and Community Initiatives

Faith-based and other community organizations recognize the value that national service volunteers bring to their organizations' missions as they help these groups accomplish more by recruiting, training, and supervising additional volunteers.

The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) is dedicated to providing opportunities for Americans of all ages and backgrounds to serve in their communities.

CNCS aims to strengthen the relationship between the federal government and secular- and faith-based nonprofit organizations to better serve Americans in need.

The Partnerships for the Common Good guide explains how 13 Federal Centers for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships and CNCS can collaborate with you to accomplish your goals.

Healthy Futures

We want a healthy future for each American. AmeriCorps and Senior Corps programs cover a wide scope of individual and community needs using a three-pronged approach of health-focused assistance, prevention, and intervention.

Among other programs, AmeriCorps is involved through the National Health Corps, a CNCS-supported program that places workers in health centers around the nation to improve access to primary and preventative health care.

Our Senior Companions program connnects seniors in need to senior who serve.  Companions provide in-home services to make daily task easier and help residents stay in their homes longer.

Senior Corps RSVP volunteers conduct community outreach and services to promote and support healthy lifestyles.
