Let's Celebrate Service!

Dear AmeriCorps Colleagues,

The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) is seeking nominations for extraordinary AmeriCorps service from programs and individuals around the country. Nominations are due on, and the awards will be presented in September. Please take a few minutes to nominate your colleagues, programs, members, and alumni for the 2018 Excellence in AmeriCorps Awards. You can find all the eligibility criteria, the nomination rules, and step-by-step instructions for writing and submitting nominations at www.challenge.gov/challenge/2018-excellence-in-americorps-awards/. The deadline to submit nominations is Wednesday, June 13.

To help you quickly submit great nominations, you can find a short how-to video on the process at this link.

Finally, here are a few common questions and answers about the Excellence in AmeriCorps Awards:

1. Who is eligible for the awards?
Programs, currently serving members, and alumni in AmeriCorps State, National, VISTA, and NCCC are eligible for the awards.

2. Who can submit the nominations?
Nominations may be submitted by commission or program staff, board or commission members, site staff, members, alumni, volunteers, and more. The nominator just needs to have a deep understanding of the service activities and be able to connect the program’s or member’s work to the award categories and criteria.

3. When will award recipients be selected and what will they receive?
CNCS will complete the nomination review process and contact nominators and award recipients by July 31, 2018. Each award recipient and one guest will be invited to an awards luncheon on Thursday, September 13, 2018. The luncheon will be held at the Hilton Crystal City in Arlington, VA, and CNCS will cover travel and lodging costs for the recipients and guests who live outside the Washington DC metro area.

Thank you for promoting this unique AmeriCorps recognition opportunity! Please share this information with everyone in your network, so that excellent service can be celebrated in all types of programs and communities in the national service field. We know the great and hard work of national service is done every day across the country, and you are in constant contact with these dedicated leaders. This is a wonderful opportunity to tell their stories and shine a spotlight on their tremendous contributions to our society.
