FY 2017 RSVP Expansion Competition

Executive Summary

AGAPE is a 501(c)3 organization, founded in 1996, to combat hunger and homelessness in Warren County. Through this project, an estimated 100 RSVP volunteers will serve by Year 3. Of this number, approximately 35% of RSVP volunteers (35 volunteers) will serve in assignments related to the outcomes of increased food security and/or increased number of homeless clients who are transitioned to safe, permanent housing. An additional 65% of RSVP volunteers (65 volunteers) will be engaged in mission areas that provide output measures, rather than outcome measures.

Some of the activities in which the RSVP volunteers will engage are food collection, food distribution, food pantry support, repairing homes and helping homeless clients transition to safe, permanent housing. The primary focus area of this project is Healthy Futures. At the end of the 3-year grant period, we will achieve several outcomes, including increasing the number of people who report increased food security in our community and increasing the number of economically disadvantaged individuals who have been transitioned into safe, permanent housing.

Volunteers are an integral part of AGAPE's day to day operation. Unlike many organizations, AGAPE actually depends on our volunteers to help operate many facets of our organization. Without our volunteers, we would not be able to maintain our current operations. The increase in volunteers through the RSVP program would be incredibly valuable to our organization.

The CNCS federal investment of $100,000 will be supplemented by a match of $33,969 by AGAPE.
