FY 2017 RSVP Expansion Competition

Executive Summary

An estimated 125 RSVP volunteers will serve and will be placed in outcome assignments. Some of their activities will include:

Friendly visiting to isolated senior adults in the community

Accompanying senior adults to medical appointments, shopping, pharmacy visits, and on other needed errands

Doing light chores and home repairs for seniors that need assistance in their homes

Traveling on the Friedberg JCC's new senior adult buses to help bring seniors to appointments and stores

Serving as a matron on the JCC's senior adult bus to assist senior riders.

Telephone reassurance to seniors who are permanently homebound or who are temporarily homebound due to hospitalization or illness.

The primary focus area of this project is Healthy Futures with a specific focus on transportation. There is a need in our community to support the ability of older adults to live independently. At the end of the three-year grant at least 100 seniors will report having increased social ties and perceived social support. The CNCS federal investment of $100,000 will be supplemented by $ 10,000 the first year, $20,000 the second year, and $30,000 the third year.
