After-School All-Stars Tampa Bay (ASAS) in partnership with Pinellas County Schools, University of South Florida - College of Education, and the Pinellas County Sherriff's Office - Police Athletic League, proposes to have 30 1-year half time AmeriCorps members that will provide in-school and out-of-school tutoring and mentoring services to low-performing and at-risk youth at six (6) Pinellas County public middle schools and six (6) after-school program sites. At the end of the 1st program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for providing services to 750 students, and 75% of program completers will improve academic performance in Language Arts and STEM. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage an additional 25 volunteers who will be engaged in the program and assist in multiple ASAS and USF led service projects throughout the year.
