A. Executive Summary

The Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) proposes to have 50 AmeriCorps members who will support our 21st Century Workforce Development Strategy through Career Mentoring and Community Outreach services in 7 Boys & Girls Club Organizations, serving 38 Boys & Girls Clubs, in the states of Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Oregon, Rhode Island, Virginia and Wisconsin. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for supporting improved workforce knowledge and skills, financial literacy, and employability for a more than 5,000 economically disadvantaged Club youth, aged 13-18. AmeriCorps Members will also have the opportunity to earn college credit during their term of service, as many of BGCA professional development and training courses are accredited by University of Phoenix and can be counted towards a post-secondary degree. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage an additional 420 volunteers who will be engaged in workforce development community events to highlight and expand opportunities for teen employment and professional experience.

This program will focus on the CNCS focus area of Economic Opportunity. The CNCS investment of $ 409, 680 will be matched with $261,634 in private funding.
