Executive Summary

Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) proposes to have 62 AmeriCorps members who will work toward the three-year goal to engage 1,125 economically disadvantaged youth in 30+ hours of service-learning projects to gain employable skills, coordinated by 33 YVC affiliate sites in 21 states (AR, CT, GA, IA, KS, LA, MI, MO, MT, NE, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WI). At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for improving the job readiness skills among 375 economically disadvantaged youth who complete 30+ hours of service learning projects. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage an additional 500 economically disadvantaged youth volunteers serving fewer hours, as well as 3,110 youth not classified as disadvantaged in service-learning projects to gain employable skills.

The program will focus on the CNCS focus area of Economic Opportunity. The CNCS investment of $262,602 will be matched with $341,470, $0 in public funding and $341,470 in private funding.
