Executive Summary

The American Red Cross proposes to have 80 AmeriCorps members who will increase communities' resilience by improving the capacity of communities to prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters in IL, CA, OH, NY, OK, AR, KY, MA, TX, WA, OR, MD, AL, VA, and MO. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for providing preparedness education to 80,000 individuals to save lives and build a more resilient community. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage an additional 400 volunteers who will be engaged in delivering and training others in youth safety presentations and fire prevention activities.

This program will focus on the CNCS focus area of Disaster Services. The CNCS investment of $1,066,400 will be matched with approximately $1 million in private funding.
