Executive Summary

The Wyoming Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (WCADVSA) proposes to have fifteen AmeriCorps members who will focus on safety, education, and sustainability for victims by providing financial literacy services and knowledge, crisis advocacy, safety options, and information on community resources, as well as leveraging community volunteers for local domestic violence and sexual assault (DVSA) programs in Wyoming through our Wyoming Advocate Corps (WyAC) Project. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for increasing financial literacy services and knowledge, safety planning strategies, and community resource information. In addition the AmeriCorps members will leverage an additional sixty volunteers that will be trained to increase local DVSA programs' capacity to holistically serve victims.

The term "advocacy" throughout this proposal is used to describe the provision of victim support services which include, but are not limited to, safety planning, referrals, information, provision of resources, accompaniment to court and medical or human services appointments, assistance finding housing, etc. The term advocacy is generally and widely used by the DVSA field as stated here and in this proposal and does not refer to influencing legislation, which is unallowable for AmeriCorps.

This program will focus on the CNCS priority areas of economic opportunity measures O1 (financial literacy services) and O9 (improved financial knowledge). The CNCS investment of $186,834 will be matched with $186,858 in public funding and $0 in other funding.
