Executive Summary

The Central-Southeast Ohio Response and Preparedness Corps (CSORPC) project will address the CNCS focus areas: Disaster Services and Veterans and Military Families. 25 AmeriCorps members will provide community disaster education, disaster preparedness, volunteer recruitment and training. Members will also develop services to arm forces programs and deliver to local communities in a 26 county area of Central-Southeast Ohio. CSORPC members will be trained as leaders so they can then provide training to other AmeriCorps members from other agencies with the skill sets needed to be deployed. Through this effort, AmeriCorps members within and external to the CSORPC program will be able to better prepare their placement communities for local disasters. They will also have the skill-set to be deployed in response to local and/or national disaster events. Finally, members will work with our Services to Armed Forces (SAF) program where they will provide volunteer recruitment, case management, community outreach and education to the military members, SAF veterans and their families. Through all of these efforts our communities will be trained and prepared to face local disasters and our AmeriCorps members will have the training to be deployed to local, regional and national disasters as needed.
