Every day, college students help their communities in a variety of ways, from tutoring and mentoring children, to raising funds for worthy causes, to helping families recover from hurricanes and other disasters. Since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the nation has witnessed a significant upsurge in volunteering by college students.

Five Colleges and Universities Earn Presidential Honor for Community Service

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) today announced the five institutions that are the Presidential Awardees in the 2013 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. This designation is the highest honor a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning, and civic engagement.
