Approximately $40 million is available for new grants to eligible grantmaking institutions or partnerships in order to run open competitions to select, fund, support, and evaluate community-based nonprofits seeking to grow innovative, evidence-based solutions to challenges facing low-income communities nationwide.
Awards will be made to programs aligning with one of our three focus areas:
- Youth Development: Preparing youth for success in school, active citizenship, productive work, and healthy and safe lives
- Economic Opportunity: Increasing economic opportunities for economically disadvantaged individuals
- Healthy Futures: Promoting healthy lifestyles and reducing the risk factors that can lead to illness.
Each selected recipient will be awarded between $1 million and $10 million annually and will match every federal dollar of the grant award. At least 80 percent of awarded federal funds must be invested in subrecipient programs.
The deadline to apply was March 17th, 2015 at 5 p.m. ET. Funding decisions will be announced in July.
