The annual Volunteering and Civic Life in America research, released today by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) shows 1 in 4 Americans volunteered through an organization and nearly two-thirds helped their neighbors last year, demonstrating that service to others continues to be a priority for millions of Americans.

Today Accenture becomes one of the largest private-sector companies to become an Employer of National Service, an initiative led by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and the Peace Corps that recognizes the unique skills and experience that AmeriCorps and Peace Corp alumni bring to the workforce. The announcement is being made today as part of Accenture’s annual Day of Service.

The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), today announced more than $13 million in funding for Pay for Success (PFS) projects through its Social Innovation Fund (SIF). Announced by Lois Nembhard, acting director of the Social Innovation Fund, at the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management Fall Research Conference in Washington, D.C., this funding includes awards to four new organizations selected as part of SIF’s Pay for Success program and winners of a pilot program focused on utilizing data to demonstrate impact, as well as continuation funding to existing grantees.

The AmeriCorps Disaster Response Team on the ground in Louisiana is offering free clean-up services to survivors that enroll through the Crisis Clean-up Hotline and Together Louisiana website. Clean-up services include, but are not limited to, removal of carpet, drywall, furniture, appliances, large debris, and mold remediation.

This $2.5 million expansion includes two new programs that are the result of new partnerships with the New York Academy of Sciences, as well as the Afterschool Alliance and the STEM Funders Network.
