Dear Colleagues,The House of Representatives completed action yesterday on the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill, which includes funding for Corporation for National and Community Service programs.The $607 billion Labor-HHS Appropriations bill would provide $151.7 billion in discretionary spending, $10.8 billion more than requested by President Bush, and a $7.1 billion increase over fiscal 2007 levels.

Dear Colleagues,Earlier today the full Senate Appropriations Committee reported out the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies FY 2008 funding bill by a 27-2 vote. The Committee recommended a total of $880.909 million for the Corporation for National and Community Service and its programs. This equals the level approved by the Subcommittee on Tuesday, June 19.

Dear Colleagues,Earlier today, the President released his budget request for fiscal year 2008. The Administration has requested a FY 2008 budget for the Corporation of $828.6 million.This strong budget includes investments that will enable national service to grow volunteering in the United States, meet local needs through service, and further help nonprofits tap the enormous power of Americans to give back to their communities.
