Dear National Service Colleagues,Today marks the beginning of a new federal fiscal year, and I want to update you on recent actions on the Corporation’s budget.Earlier today, President Obama signed a continuing resolution which will fund federal agencies and programs at Fiscal 2009 levels through October 31. The continuing resolution, which was attached to the legislative branch appropriations bill, was needed to keep government programs operating after the official end of the fiscal year.

Dear Colleagues:Congress is beginning to take action on the Fiscal Year 2010 appropriations bill that funds the Corporation and its programs, and I want to give you a brief update.On May 7, President Obama submitted to Congress a budget request of $1.149 billion for the Corporation and its programs, a $259 million or 29 percent increase over the FY 2009 enacted level. The President’s budget would strengthen and expand existing programs and invest in key initiatives authorized by the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act.

We have been working diligently over the last several months to put the necessary technical, program support, and training in place for a successful launch. Currently we are planning to launch this summer. We know that the earlier upgrades have presented some challenges, so we are hoping to smooth this transition with earlier advance notice, additional training, and by soliciting your feedback from the beginning.
