    Each year, the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll recognizes higher education institutions that reflect the values of exemplary community service and achieve meaningful outcomes in their communities through service.Applications for the 2013 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll are currently being accepted. The deadline for 2013 Honor Roll submissions is November 29, 2012, at 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Below is a video that highlights the 2012 Honor Roll recipients.

    For Tina Kiehn, an AmeriCorps NCCC member in Aurora, IL, the morning of September 11, 2001, started out as a day like any other. She was at her service site, helping a class of first graders adjust to the new school year. With summer just behind them, Kiehn and her team expected a normal daily schedule: classes, recess, homework help.
