    Boston-based rockers Thirteen Yards to Victory couldn't help but notice the headlines in the local newspapers and the announcements on social media sites that many arts and music education programs in their area were being cut severely. The bad economy was going to mean a poor education for so many students.

    On September 11, more than a dozen Cabinet secretaries and senior administration officials commemorated the heroism of those who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001, and remembered their spirit of sacrifice by engaging in service and volunteerism as part of the first officially recognized September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance.

    Inspired by the Tony Blair Faith Foundation when they demonstrated how simple it is to save a life, this past summer two teens from Sharon, Massachusetts, created the “One Bag, One Life” campaign. Leah Zuroff and Andy Hanold created the slogan, logo, ordered 800 eco-friendly grocery bags on-line, and the campaign was off and running!

    This summer (2009) was a hot, exciting and challenging summer for the Interfaith Partnership/ Faith Beyond Walls St. Louis Interfaith Community Exploitations (SLICE) program. Interfaith Partnership/ Faith Beyond Walls works with congregations and faith communities to promote peace, understanding and respect among people of all faiths and within the greater Saint Louis metro area.

    Summer is a season of heightened hunger in America. As the school year ends and school nutrition programs end with it, many children lose an important source of food. Regular donations to local charities are also interrupted by travel and changed summer schedules. In 2009, economic troubles have made the challenges facing many families even greater. When John Berry became the Director of OPM this spring, Virginia Congressman Frank Wolf asked him if Federal workers might be able to help food banks in the National Capital Region, and the Feds Feed Families food drive was born.
