A conference attendee enjoys the opening celebration at the 2011 National Conference on Volunteering and Service in New Orleans, LA.National service leaders, social entrepreneurs, thought leaders, and innovators from across the country will converge in Chicago for the National Conference on Volunteering and Service (NCVS), sponsored by the Points of Light, June 18-20, 2012, to exchange ideas about and share solutions to some of the nation's toughest problems.

The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) will have a great selection of national service-focused content designed to help attendees make the most of their experience at the conference, including an opportunity for grantees to talk with CEO Wendy Spencer in a town hall-style meeting (Session #3139) on Monday 1:00 - 2:30, prior to the opening plenary.

Our grantees and stakeholders may want to plan to arrive in Chicago early to attend a special slate of preconference meetings at McCormick Place that will include:

  • Maximizing Disability Inclusion in Your State, Session #2936
This session will focus on how programs can develop disability inclusion performance measures, leverage partnerships to accomplish those measures, and share resources that increase capacity to include all qualified individuals with disabilities.

  • MLK Day and 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance Grantee and Partner Meeting, Session #2980
MLK Day and 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance grantees at this session will focus on creating and measuring impact using performance measures.

  • Measuring Your Performance and Building Impact, Session #2964
Learn the basic concepts of performance management to collect evidence of your program's outcomes and contribute to telling the larger story of the collective impact of national service on national priorities.

  • North Central State Service Commissions meetings with CNCS Disaster Services Staff, Session #2967
A series of regional meetings will bring together state commissions, national service programs, voluntary organizations active in disaster (VOADs), and others from across the country to meet with CNCS staff and discuss lessons learned.

Here's a sampling of the workshops that CNCS will present during the event:

In addition to conference programming, there will be a CNCS booth in the exhibit hall where attendees can pick up supplies and materials. We will also host an AmeriCorps State and National Town Hall (Session #3217) where attendees can meet the leadership team.
