This August, a group of Girls Inc girls at our Brooklyn site volunteered at Rooftop Farms in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

The girls helped by composting, cleaning and harvesting, all while learning about how they can positively impact the environment by growing and eating locally—even in the middle of New York City.It was a very powerful day for the girls and helped the Farm prepare food that is sourced to five local restaurants.

The girls are now forming a group, "Eco Girls" as an ongoing service team this school year. Future activities with the farming project are being discussed.
