I am a fulltime employee of the Flathead National Forest. I have been a volunteer firefighter/EMT for 24 years with the Whitefish, MT Fire Department.

I am currently enrolled at Flathead Valley Community College in Kalispell, MT as a full time student to receive my Paramedicine degree. Through the community college I enrolled in the AmeriCorps program and completed one 900 hour service session with the fire department, ambulance services and local hospital this past spring semester. Most days I worked 8 hours on the job, attended classes 2 nights a week, took 8 hours of night call with the fire department after class. I also put in 20, 12 hour days working at the hospital or on the ambulance services in Whitefish and Columbia Falls.

It took a lot of time but the rewards of serving in the hospital and on the ambulance are well worth it!
