Conference Training and Technical Assistance
As the nation's largest organization dedicated to volunteer service, Points of Light (POL) is uniquely positioned to provide training and technical assistance to Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) grantees, including those operating and/or providing training for AmeriCorps and Senior Corps Programs.
Over the years, CNCS has been a key partner in our citizen engagement efforts. Our collaboration has consistently proven the power of national service to create change in communities. Together, we've created sustainable social capital by training hundreds of volunteer leaders and by bringing together citizens to tackle problems and revitalize the civic life of their communities. Our expert training and technical assistance team, HandsOn University (HOU), will create customized training opportunities for CNCS grantees, sharing the core competencies that have enabled us to engage hundreds of thousands of volunteers in efforts to solve community problems.
POL will implement five regional training events, in the predefined regional clusters. These events will be implemented before the end of the 2013 calendar year. Each event will target a minimum of 200 AmeriCorps State and National and Senior Corps program managers/directors. POL will ensure that at least 30% of the 200 participants are from Senior Corps programs. Each event will be two full days in length and will achieve the following CNCS required outcomes: Participants will have an excellent conference experience; Event participants will demonstrate knowledge of CNCS performance measurement and evaluation competencies; and, event participants will demonstrate knowledge of CNCS compliance competencies: grants administration, and program and financial management.
POL will measure outcomes with instruments provided by CNCS. POL will collect data during and after every event and provide a report back to CNCS within two weeks of each event.
