Friends of the Parks
An estimated 624 RSVP volunteers will serve. They will conduct environmental stewardship activities, including in site clean-up, plant restoration, invasive species removal, creating and maintaining trails, improving and cleaning waterways, and creating linkages to other environmental issues such as apiculture, ornithology, and other volunteer defined priorities through a network of at least ten local sites to be determined and three regional sites at Montrose Beach, Jackson Park, and the Dunning-Read Conservation Area. The primary focus of this grant is environmental stewardship. At the end of the three-year grant, the progam will have improved at least 19 acres of park space as well as improving trails and cleaning waterways. The CNCS federal investment of $140,765.00will be supplemented by $35,917.00in organizational matching funds.
