RSVP 2013 Competition Appendix A Part 1 Funding Opportunities
An estimated 542 RSVP of Lake County volunteers will serve the Lake County, Ohio area. They will assist with aging in place, obesity and food, access to care, K-12 success through tutoring and academic engagement, disaster preparedness, supporting veterans and military families and garnering donations and several community-oriented support activities through a network of over 70 volunteer sites. A sample of the sites included are; Council on Aging Meals on Wheels, NE Ohio Drug Repository, Hospice of the Western Reserve, several public school districts, Medicare Hotline, General Health District, Lake County Emergency Management Agency, several local food banks, Pathways Mental Health, Ombudsman, Free Clinic, Veterans associations, American Red Cross,Victim's Assistance hotline, Probate Guardianship, Faith in Action friendly visiting and grocery shopping, and many more that are listed in the volunteer station roster. The primary focus area of this project is Healthy Futures. At the end of the 12-month performance period 45 students will have improved academic performance in literacy or math, 4 teachers will report improved student academic engagement, 335 homebound seniors will report having increased social support, and 240 individuals will report increased food security. The CNCS federal investment of $45,339 will be supplemented by $123,800 state and local resources.
