Fort Peck Tribes
There can be no economic development in a community if the people are not healthy. There is a critical need for community gardens on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation to address issues of food insecurity, health, and social issues. The funding requested for this proposal is for a one-year paid Community Garden Program Planner (CGPP). The person in this position will work with the Fort Peck Tribes Economic Development Office (FPTEDO) staff to design a community garden program to be implemented in seven communities. The CGPP will also be responsible for identifying and applying for implementation funding and donations of goods and services. One source of support the CGPP will apply for is AmeriCorps members to serve as site managers in each community. The CGPP will be responsible for applying for AmeriCorps member funding and the recruitment, training and management of AmeriCorps members. The CGPP will also develop an annual budget and seek funding sources, including requesting inclusion in future tribal budgets.
