Twenty Marshfield Clinic AmeriCorps members will increase the capacity and effectiveness of coalitions and youth serving organizations in Wisconsin. Members will implement prevention activities that are part of evidence-based community action plans that target the health priorities of substance abuse and/or obesity. The project will begin October 1, 2012 and end September 30, 2013. Anticipated outcomes: 18 community-based organizations will report increased capacity and organizational effectiveness to address substance abuse and/or obesity; 600 volunteers will be recruited and complete 1,200 hours of service; and, 250 youth ages 12-18 will participate in at least 5 healthy active living learning events. This project will focus on the CNCS focus areas of capacity building and healthy futures. Marshfield Clinic AmeriCorps is requesting a CNCS investment of $260,000 for a full-time fixed-amount grant.
