Pueblo Community College Foundation
The President's Leadership Program (PLP) at Pueblo Community College (PCC) focuses on improving the educational and economic opportunities of low- and moderate-income individuals. PLP college students serving as AmeriCorps members hosted by the Pueblo Community College Foundation (PCCF) learn and apply leadership skills critical to the community. Leadership efforts are concentrated on mentoring K-12 (targeting the middle grades 6-8) with the intent of helping younger mentees feel connected, supported, and challenged as they transition into high school, encouraging them to continue their education beyond the Secondary level. PLP students also serve as financial literacy coaches for students at the community college level, targeting peers (college-age students) focusing on improving their understanding of fiscal responsibilities, increasing persistence, and in the long-term increasing certificate and degree completion and decreasing the student loan default rate.
