Fifteen full-time AmeriCorps members will provide targeted academic support, attendance monitoring and positive behavior support to middle and high school students within existing SEEDS After School programs who are identified as being at-risk for not successfully graduating on time. Members will work in rural regions of persistent rural poverty in northwest lower Michigan. Members will provide homework help, mentorship and develop connections to community resources including volunteer mentors. At the end of three years, 80% of targeted students will successfully transition between grades and 50% will show improvement in test scores and reduced behavioral infractions. This project will focus on the CNCS focus area of Education with an MSY of $12,990.
