Commission AmeriCorps State Fixed Amount Grants FY 2012
Fifteen (15) AmeriCorps members will leverage an additional thirty (30) volunteerswho will serve a total of 3000 hours (100 hours each) to assist in providing direct support to children with and without disabilities and adults with disabilities at Arts for All, Inc. in Tucson, Arizona in its preschool, out-of-school time, Summer Arts Camp and day treatment and training program. The program will begin on September 1, 2012 and end August 31, 2015. Demographics from 2010-2011 stated that 83% of the students were from low-income families and 67% had a significant disability. At the end of the three year 2012-2015 program, Arts for All will be able to demonstrate that with the assistance of AmeriCorps members and volunteers, students at Arts for All will achieve 75% of their established objectives, 40 AmeriCorps members will be trained as Direct Support Professionals, Arts for All's training program for Direct Support Professionals will be packaged for other organizations to use, AmeriCorps members will graduate with 90% satisfaction rate and National Performance Measures will be addressed. This program will focus on Healthy Futures and Capacity Building. Service Categories include Out-of-School Time and Summer Learning, Physical and Developmental Disabilities, Adult Day Care and Volunteer Recruitment. Arts for All will provide support access to services and resources that contribute to improved educational outcomes for economically disadvantaged people, especially children. There will be support for youth engagement and service-learning as strategies to achieve significant educational outcomes. Grant activities will demonstrate gains in school readiness in terms of social and emotional development, engage in activities to reduce and prevent childhood obesity, plan and engage health education classes for adults with disabilities and increase the number of volunteers and volunteer hours serving at Arts for All. Arts for All will also build on service-learning opportunities for our students, both adults with disabilities and children.
