Seven AmeriCorps members will leverage an additional 30 volunteers to improve local high school
graduation rates and participation in post-secondary education among high school students in four
public alternative schools, attended by students who are behind academically and at risk of dropping
out. At the end of this year members will have coached students to develop an individual service plan
(outlining plans to graduate and continue to post-secondary), completed activities in the plan, and will
have participated in career exploration classes and sessions. This project will focus on the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) focus area of education. The CNCS investment of $91,000 will be leveraged by the RISE Foundation's investment of staff and resources.
