American Conservation Experience
AmeriCorps National Fixed Amount Grants FY 2012
150 full time AmeriCorps members will leverage an additional 1050 community volunteers to eradicate invasive Tamaligi Trees in American Samoa and Tamarisk/Russian Olive populations in the fragile waterways of Arizona, California, and Southern Utah. At the end of the three year project AmeriCorps members will have contributed to over 900 acres of public lands restoration, permanently reclaiming ecosystems for native plants and animals. The project will address the CNCS focus area of Environmental Stewardship and will be matched with over $600,000 in stakeholder contributions.
