The Corps Network
The Corps Network (TCN) is the national association of Service and Conservation Corps (also referred to as Youth Corps). TCN's AmeriCorps Education Award Program (EAP) includes 47 Corps (70+ locations), operating in diverse socioeconomic and geographic areas in 25 states and DC. These Corps will utilize the EAP to engage several thousand youth and young adults, primarily 18-25 yrs old -- many of whom are from low-income and disadvantaged backgrounds -- in hundreds of environmental stewardship projects designed to increase access to open spaces and outdoor recreational opportunities, add economic value, and promote healthy lifestyles among both the EAP members and the communities in which they are serving.
Specifically, between September 1, 2012 - August 31, 2013, TCN's EAP will engage 3,186 AmeriCorps members and leverage about 30,000 volunteers to build and maintain more than 2,000 miles of trail, protect, restore, and improve more than 400,000 acres of National, State, local and tribal lands, and over 300 miles of waterways. TCN's EAP also seeks to address the alarmingly high levels of youth unemployment by providing members with access to educational services, life-skills development, workforce preparation, supportive services, personal and career counseling, and post-program placement assistance.
