Military Spouse Corporate Career Network
The Military Spouse Corporate Career Network Expansion Project addresses the CNCS focus area of Veterans and Military Families, with a focus on employment transition. The MSCCN is a national nonprofit that has successfully worked to reduce veteran and military affiliate unemployment for seven years. Our current program model is based on the use of well-trained volunteers, consistent with the AmeriCorps approach to national service. If fully funded, 113 AmeriCorps Members will be placed in all 50 states and 4 territories, with five Members placed in supervisory roles. These AmeriCorps Members will leverage an additional 50 to 100+ volunteers in 2012. AmeriCorps members and volunteers, working out of National Guard Armories, will support Veterans, Guard, Reserve, and military spouses to find jobs. By the end of the first year, these AmeriCorps Members and volunteers will have helped 15,000 Veterans, Guard, Reserve, and military spouses transition. By the end of their AmeriCorps year, Members will have the job skills, expertise, and solid work experience they need to successfully obtain employment in a red hot 21st Century job in the post-war, draw down era in the United States as a Veteran Employment Specialist. Additionally, they will have earned additional educational credits that they can use towards a degree or certification program. While no match is required for a Fixed Amount Grant , we believe we can leverage a CNCS investment of $1,385,709 will generate $125,000 in program support revenue and pro-bono donations of goods/services to continue the program beyond our AmeriCorps year(s).
