Conservation Corps Minnesota and Iowa
Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa is requesting a $495,000 grant to engage 55 AmeriCorps members in conserving energy and natural resources for the health and well-being of Upper Midwest citizens. AmeriCorps field members will operate in 5 person teams based in 1 central Iowa and 4 southern Minnesota locations and 6 single-placement members will serve at partner agencies in North Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa. Each year of the project, 12,000 acres of vital habitat will be restored; 250 miles of trails or waterways will be created or improved; and 3,000 individuals will receive education or training in energy-efficient and environmentally-conscious practices. The CNCS investment will be matched with $990,000.
