Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (Active)
FY 2012 National Day of Service and Remembrance Grants
Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) National Day of Service and Remembrance. CADCA partnering with the National Guard Bureau (NGB), CNCS, and our corporate partner, DIRECTV will conduct a September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance (NDSR) Program to support Veterans and Military Families (VMF). CADCA currently operates the VetCorps project to provide AmeriCorps or AmeriCorps VISTA members to work in community coalitions in 100 sites in 28 states. The proposed NDSR grant will amplify and strengthen ongoing VetCorps efforts. It will draw attention to CNCS programs and will involve over 5,000 veterans and civilians. CADCA will work with 100 community coalitions to directly implement "Celebrations of Service" events on or around September 11, 2012. With a strong emphasis on helping VMF, each event will network with employers, health/wellness information and volunteer opportunities. A key aim of the project will be to increase awareness of the role of CNCS in promoting volunteerism and service. CADCA will increase youth, VMF and other community members' participation in local service to amplify the work of VetCorps and honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and those who rose in service as result of that tragedy.
