FY 2012 National Day of Service and Remembrance Grants
HANDSON GREATER DC CARES FOURTH ANNUAL SEPTEMBER 11TH NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE AND REMEMBRANCE September 11th, 2012, marks the 11th Anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, as well as a federally recognized National Day of Service and Remembrance. In observance of this day, HandsOn Greater DC Cares (HGDCC) will lead its 4th Annual September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance. Over the course of five days, targeting communities in DC, Maryland, and Virginia, HGDCC will rally more than 10,000 volunteers and engage 100s of our corporate, faith-based, government, and nonprofit partners to pay tribute through service. Program to include: Corporate Day of Service and Student Engagement- Friday, September 7th Community Day of Service- Saturday, September 8th College and Career Readiness Initiative (*New This Year!) - Monday, September 10th Tribute to Service: Volunteer Fair and Recognition Event- Tuesday, September 11th As in past days, we will marshal our efforts toward increasing service by and for veterans and military families, cultivating opportunities for economically vulnerable individuals, raising disaster preparedness awareness, and strengthening the capacity of organizations directly addressing these issues to manage volunteers year-round.
