TRAVIS MANION FOUNDATION
9/11 HEROES RUN
The annual 9/11 Heroes Run is held to remember, honor and support our men and women in the Armed Services, Police, Firefighter and emergency responder communities who protect and serve our country every day.
In 2011, to mark the 10th anniversary of the attacks on our country, the Travis Manion Foundation hosted more than 37 races around the world. There were 29 races in the United States on 9/11 and runs on military bases in Afghanistan, Iraq, Italy, England, Guam, and on board ships in the Persian Gulf. With the assistance of 37 volunteer race directors and over 1200 volunteers - more than 45,000 runners and spectators came together to remember the sacrifices of so many.
The coming year is poised to be even larger. The Travis Manion Foundation will host a projected 52 Heroes Runs in 35 states across the United States and 10 international races. The Foundation anticipates over 112,000 participants including 32,000 runners, 5,000 community volunteers.
The 9/11 Heroes Run is part of our goal to Honor the Fallen by Challenging the Living as well as our universal call to never forget the sacrifices of so many Americans who have chosen a life of service to our country.
