TN 9/11 NETWORK
The Tennessee Campus Compact/Lipscomb University proposes to establish an independent TN 9/11 Network 501(c)3 membership organization to positively impact the quality of life among 503,000 Veterans, improve military family strength for an estimated 1.5 million, and engage more unemployed Veterans and military family members through AmeriCorps*VISTA national service opportunities. The project will provide 10 mini-grants annually to high schools and post secondary institutions to integrate service-learning to assist 9,000 Veterans with college access and success as well as 10 mini-grants to faith-based congregations to foster fellowship with 18,000 military families. The Network will recruit 911 dues-paying members in 2012, and 9,011 by 2014 to build reserves for project sustainability. Annual membership dues will be set at a symbolic and affordable $9.11. TNCC will host 1,000 participants at its annual conference on September 11-12 to institutionalize a Day of Reflection and Remembrance. By 2015, the 9/11 Network will be expanded to the southeast region. The TNCC has been nationally recognized as a key partner in transforming and deepening the role of higher education in addressing community economic development. Since its founding in 2008, TNCC has leveraged $11,000,000.00 for economically distressed and under served communities across the Volunteer State.
