Denver Options, Inc.
FY 2012 National Day of Service and Remembrance Grants
Denver Options proposes a comprehensive multi-state program to meet the purpose of the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance funding and encourage service and volunteerism for those who served our country following this tragedy. The DENVER OPTIONS 9/11 INITIATIVE includes: 1) a general veterans outreach training session for all interested State Commissions and Inclusion Teams; and 2) selection of five sub grantees to receive targeted training and technical assistance to deliver THE GATEWAY SERVICE PROJECT which includes: a) facilitating a NATIONAL SERVICE EDUCATION FORUM and b) creating a DAY OF SERVICE. The GATEWAY SERVICE PROJECT will educate veterans and military families about the value of National Service as a path to employment and provide an opportunity to experience the impact of service on communities. Denver Options will provide education, materials and technical assistance to five State Commissions and/or Inclusion Teams seeking to expand partnerships with veterans, military/veteran service organizations and wounded warrior transition units. Each state is expected to replicate the project with another state in their cluster in year two. The two-year goal is to serve a minimum of 500 veterans and families nationally.
