Executive Summary

WTC United Family Group/DBA The September 11th Education Trust: 9/11 Remembrance and Civic Engagement Program.

DUNS:147221381; CCR#: 6NQR8

WTC United Family Group/DBA The September 11th Education Trust respectfully requests a grant of $100,000 to support its 9/11 Remembrance and Civic Engagement Program, a three-tiered collaborative learning opportunity that harnesses 9/11 remembrances and stories of those who heroically responded to encourage and inspire students nationwide toward acts of service. Ten school districts located throughout CNCS's five regional clusters have been identified to participate in this multifaceted program. Through professional development workshops, teachers in partner school districts will be trained on how to effectively teach the 9/11 Remembrance and Civic Engagement Program, which consists of a Remembrance video/lesson as well as lessons which tell the story of those who responded to 9/11 through positive action and community service. Key objectives include: Training 300 teachers across the ten school districts located throughout the CNCS's five regional clusters, reaching approximately 3,000 students, imparting the vital lessons of 9/11 remembrance, civic engagement and service during the project period (2012-2014); and, mobilizing 5,000 volunteers from partner districts through service projects to benefit veterans and military families.
