SERVICENATION: UNITING CIVILIAN AND MILITARY COMMUNITIES THROUGH SERVICE ON 9/11 September 11, 2001 served as a call to action for all Americans¿many answered through military service and volunteerism. ServiceNation, a campaign to elevate service as a core ideal and problem-solving strategy in our society, seeks to unite those who responded to the call on 9/11 and make service a permanent part of the 9/11 legacy. This year, through a national service initiative beginning on 9/11 and ending with Veterans Day, Service Nation will engage approximately 1,000 civilians, veterans, and military family members through 30-40 projects across the country. Additionally, ServiceNation proposes one signature project on 9/11 in Washington, DC designed to attract the participation of high-profile champions of civilian and military service. ServiceNation will coordinate a national publicity and communications campaign designed to educate and activate Americans to serve alongside veterans, our nation¿s greatest civic asset, and use service as a way to solve challenges facing our country, particularly around disaster relief, housing, employment, and increased community engagement.
