A. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY. AmeriCorps Cape Cod (ACC) is a regional residential service program that responds to the critical environmental, disaster and community needs within the 15 towns of Barnstable County, MA (commonly known as Cape Cod). 32 AmeriCorps members will leverage at least 600 community volunteers over their service year from August through July, and will serve the critical needs in the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) focus areas of Environmental Stewardship and Disaster Services. 180 water and land natural resource management and wildfire mitigation projects will be completed, improving 100 acres of parks and public lands and improving and creating 15 miles of trails and waterways; and 40 community disaster education presentations will be delivered educating 450 citizens to be better prepared when local disaster strikes. Members will perform disaster preparedness projects and regional shelter planning and deployment to strengthen community disaster response infrastructure. The CNCS investment of $425,600 will be matched with $425,600 in cash and in-kind contributions from Barnstable County regional government including in-kind match from National Parks Service, Cape Cod National Seashore.
