CNCS STATEMENT. 35 AmeriCorps members will leverage an additional 4,100 volunteers. These AmeriCorps members will be assigned to 2 different teams - Education/Outreach and Technology/Media, together they will address CNCS focus area -- Health & Nutrition. Our project goal is to eliminate health disparities in the Asian Americna & Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. CNCS Investment - $465,499.34; Asian Media Access match - $179,103 (27.79% match). SUMMARY. Led by Asian Media Access (AMA), along with Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) partners - the Asian Pacific American Community Network (APA ComMNet) Coalition, the group will support Project PHILIP (Public Health Improvement through Language, Information and Prevention), to implement an AmeriCorps program in Twin Cities/MN, with the goal of improving health education, data collection and physical exercise for Limited English Proficient (LEP) AAPI communities combating health disparities. Project PHILIP will recruit 35 AmeriCorps members, serving on 2 different teams (Education/ Outreach and Technology/ Media) and working together to eliminte health disparities in the AAPI community. We envision: 1) Education/Outreach Team: 20 members to be hosted at 5-6 partner sites (agencies serving general AAPIs, Hmong, Asian Indian, Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, Filipino, Laotian and Cambodian) to conduct public health education, outreach and Asian cultural exercise training in native languages. 2) Technology/Media Team: 15 Technology and Media Savvy AmeriCorps members will be housed at AMA to develop the APA ComMNet website - a central public health hub with information in diverse Asian languages.
